Boeing is currently the world’s largest and most popular aerospace company in the world and also has the greatest revenue compared to its rivals.

A little bit about them

Boeing, which is a public company, had an annual revenue of $58.2 billion USD in 2020. This is a huge drop in revenue from its previous years. In 2018, Boeing reached an all-time high with a revenue of $101,127 billion USD.

It was founded back in 1916 in Seattle, Washington by William E. Boeing and was known as Aero Products Company.

The company would later merge with multiple organizations and changed its name several times.

During the 1960s and 1970s, the company diversified into industries such as outer space travel, marine craft, agriculture, energy production and transit systems.

In 1995, Boeing partnered with several organizations from different countries to create Sea Launch, which sent satellites to geostationary orbit from floating platforms.

Its headquarters were moved from Seattle to Chicago in 2001. Boeing opened its first factory in Sheffield, United Kingdom in 2018.

The company was forced to cut 12,000 jobs due to the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020. The company suffered a major loss in revenue due to this serious restriction of travel and the grounding of the 737 MAX aircraft following two fatal crashes.

Now CEO David L. Calhoun was forced to lay off an additional 30,000 employees in October of 2020 due to the continuing effects of the pandemic.
